Family Fun

This sweet family was a blast to spend the evening capturing priceless moments. We met at a nearby state park that the frequent regularly and it was an awesome new spot for a portrait session. This little guy is used to getting to play there so he kept wondering when it was play time but he did great!

Mom said she wanted to just capture the family together and I feel like we did just that. I enjoyed every moment!

I love how he smiles with his eyes. There is just something magical about people that smile and it lights up their entire face.

Now this just melts my heart. I love to see a little boy and his daddy together. Dad was trying to help me get him posed but he just wanted to hug on his hero.

Precious!!!!

Mom had to bring the tickle monster out. It was VERY effective! One of my FAVS!!!

My other favorite....they just look like they are having fun!

I love when my subjects tell me they just want me to catch them interacting with their family. I think these will be the treasured photos as life goes on. Thanks for trusting me with such a special task. It was great fun!

Little Princess

This little princess just turned one herself! I can reiterate enough how much of a fun age it is. Exploration abounds and everything is fascinating. Her pretty dress was not deterring her from going where she needed to go even if she had to adapt the ways she got there.

This little girl is dearly loved and had quite the fan club at her session. She enjoyed the attention I think and we had loads of fun despite wondering if the mosquitoes might carry us away.

She's taking a few steps but still likes the security of daddy's finger.

Thanks again for your trust to capture your precious little girl! I hope we get to do it again sometime!

Charmer

This little guy is going to be quite the charmer. He smiles ALL THE TIME! I have been blessed to know him since he was 4 days old (see here) and he has been so happy at every session! He didn't care that it was FREEZING cold at his 3 month session, and the same was true for his six month and nine month session, so I shouldn't be surprised one bit that his one year session was more of the same! He melted my heart with a big grin the minute he saw me peek my head into the car.

Without further ado here are a few images for your viewing pleasure....

He always gives me great expressions....

I am so grateful that his mom and dad have trusted me to capture this special time in his life. It is an honor I don't take lightly. So thank you for your trust. There is no doubt that I consider you friends. I can't wait to see more of your handsome little man as he grows up!

A Sneak Peak (and my Knight in Shining Armour)

I have to brag a little bit on my husband and give you a sneak peak into what a session can look like for your child. Mike doesn't get to come to every session because he often has conflicting obligations. However, I love it when he does. There is just a different dynamic when he is there and he is gaining quite the reputation among my customers. He often keeps everyone laughing (sometimes the parents more than the kids). He is confident and comfortable in who he is and doesn't mind being silly. On Tuesday night my client's parents and I were grateful for this side of him. See, this 2 1/2 year old (as 2 year olds are known to do) decided she wasn't really in the mood to have pictures taken after they arrived at our location. Her mom had done everything right and had been talking about our session with her for several days and she had been excited. In addition to her decision a thunderstorm seemed like it was moving in. I thought for sure we would need to reschedule.

She wasn't easy to win over cause she looked like this.....and had quite a scowl on her face. If I came near with the camera she scowled even harder.

[Insert Mike]
Mike begins to work his magic. He plays peek-a-boo, breaks out his Elmo and Mickey Mouse voice, and then decides to practice his ballet. This seems to do the trick. I was forever indebted to him ..... (and I captured these)

Wouldn't you laugh? But seriously, how many men are willing to do this for their wife? I really do have the best husband. This wasn't the end of it though. He continued to roll on the ground and do whatever this sweet little girl wanted him to do. He won her heart! Soon he had her doing this....

and this....

She didn't even get upset when the "princesses" didn't answer the door.

All traces of her scowl are gone...

Thanks again for allowing us the opportunity to "win" your little girl over!

A Couple of Announcements

Many of you are already thinking about Christmas and the schedule is filling up for this fall. If you are hoping to have a session this fall make sure to contact me soon to set up your session. The schedule is quickly filling up for the next few months.

I always try to keep a few openings to accommodate any newborns but if you are expecting and hoping to schedule a session let me know your due date so I can keep that in mind!

What's a post without a few images? This is a good friend of ours who is expecting a third little boy in October-November. They recently moved to Michigan because her husband started an orthopedic residency. We were shocked and excited that they got to come home last week to see his family and fit us in their schedule. We stopped after lunch to grab a few shots of them. Kyle is notorious for hating pictures but I won him over this day with a 15 minute quick session. I think it definitely paid off!

She's gorgeous!

I'm so proud of you Kyle AND you made your wife happy!

A Few More....

I had a fabulous time Saturday finishing up this gorgeous senior's session. As you recall we were stormed out earlier in the week and the wait was well worth it. This senior is genuine inside and out, good natured, and a joy to spend a few hours with. I felt blessed to meet and get to know her.

She had some ideas of her own when they called and asked me to photograph her so it was fun to bring those ideas to life. I think we worked well together to create something special for her! I love that I can offer something unique for every senior.

I hope you enjoy these....

Her guitar has been a big part of her life so we included it in several places. I love it!

She is also very involved with her church. I love the dedication that she wanted her Bible included.

I have been waiting for the perfect moment to use these chairs. Today was the day! I LOVE how it turned out.

She wanted a field and two days later the field I typically use was mowed :(. I was so sad. But I found another and it had the perfect setting sun.

Thanks again. I hope this is a memorable year!

Remember that Storm Tuesday?

Remember that storm on Tuesday? I had just gotten started with this gorgeous senior and within 15 minutes that crazy storm blew in. I'm excited to finish up tonight but wanted to show them that we got a great start!

A Little Bit of Everything

This sweet family invited me to cross the river and come to their home in Metropolis. I was so excited to venture out and do a session in a new location. This energetic 2 year old kept us moving but she was sweet. She reminds me a lot of the stage my niece is in these days....interested in everything but what you want her to be. She has a sibling coming soon and a furry big brother so we captured a little bit of everything.

Starting in the rocking chairs on the porch....

The furry big brother. He liked having his picture taken. :)

Even caught them enjoying the wagon together!

Okay, I saved some of my favorites for last. I LOVE THESE!!!

She looks so serious and thoughtful here!

Yet she's really enjoying herself now! I love the interaction in this picture...this worked well with an active 2 year old and we even caught the dog watching the action!

Thanks again for inviting me over! I had fun. Can't wait to meet your new little bundle in a few months!

Don't forget to leave your comments! This mom needs her complimentary 4x6 print!

Twins

This past Friday I experienced a first - photographing twins!!! I was so excited when their momma called and wanted to schedule a session. I have been wanting to photograph twins for awhile but hadn't had the opportunity. It was a fun challenge. They are 3 months old and both so cute! Don't you agree?

This little man was in a good mood. Love the smiles!

She wasn't so sure but she liked to blow bubbles!

Little toes ... so sweet.

I love the emotion in this picture. Can't you tell mom and dad love their little people?

Don't forget 10 comments gets you a complimentary 4x6 print.

Another sweet girl

This sweet girl came back a year older. They just grow so fast! She is such a busy little thing but it was a lot of fun to see the world through her eyes for an hour. Two years old is such an amazing age - full of curiosity and amazement! It would probably do us all good to see the world through a two year old's eyes.

She really perked up when her grandpa stopped by. He knew how to get the smiles!

Thanks again for coming back to see me. I can't wait for next year already!
