Paducah Senior

Several weeks back we had the privilege of capturing senior pictures for one of our students at our church. We have watched this group of kiddos grow up since they were in eighth grade and it seems crazy to think that they will be graduating this year. It has been so fun to watch them mature and become adults that have big dreams and aspirations!

We are confident they will all succeed and feel honored to get to watch along the way!

We captured a variety of images and I couldn't be more pleased with the gallery. It was painstaking for me to try to narrow the gallery down that I presented to his mom and dad!

Beautiful Twin Girls {Paducah Baby Photographer}

These two precious girls were so much fun to photograph! I couldn't believe how easy they both were. We got so many smiles, eye contact, and they are even pushing up so well! They each snoozed a little while their sister was modeling but in the end the day turned out beautifully!

We have been praying for these little ones for months....their family is precious to us and apart of our church family! Mom was on bed rest for several months but it did the trick because they held on until the very end!

At the very end they even gave a picture together!

By this time, Bella was ready for a nap, but Parker was ready with her smiles!

It might be double the work but I like to think it's just double the FUN! I can't wait to see what awaits us at their 6 month pictures!

Quick Peek {Paducah Senior Photographer}

Just a quick peek for a beautiful senior. I can't wait to blog more of her session but wanted to assure her that we captured some BEAUTIFUL images!






I just have to say that this field is GORGEOUS with purple and yellow flowers! I was so happy to have a girl to take to photograph here! If you are interested call me ASAP...it won't last long!

Natalie and Dave

I was honored to photograph a special couple today as they committed their lives to one another. As I downloaded images I couldn't help but grab one for them to see before they head out on their honeymoon.

One Year!

This little beauty is one year old. Wow. It has been an amazing year watching her grow in 3 month increments, newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and finally her one year portraits below! I am so blessed to get to meet and know such great families when I photograph the first year of a child's life. The memories that are preserved are priceless and I hear that all the time. It really hits after the one year session and mom goes back to look at their teeny tiny newborn pictures and can't believe how big their baby is now.

This little one was just precious once again!





We had a blast and I can't wait for the next milestone so we can do it again!

Come On Spring....

The snow we have experienced has been beautiful but I'm ready to be done with it. I even went out to play in the snow and enjoyed taking all kinds of fun pictures. I meant to post them here but I have been enjoying my down time a little too much. I did post them on our adoption blog so if you would like to see them, you can find them here.

Tonight though I am excited for Spring to come so we can get back outdoors and start taking beautiful pictures again. Here is a little reminiscing of Spring images from last year.








I'm so ready for the color and warm temps. I'm ready to blog again with some of the great sessions that I already have lined up.

Getting 2010 Started Right

2010 has already started with a nice, balmy 23 degree session. However, I don't know any other families that could pull off a session in the artic tempertures better than this one did. It was COLD but we captured some great family images! I never heard one person complain about how cold it was or that they had to take off coats at all. They were such troopers! We laughed and joked and just did what we had to do. I would say we accomplished the job well.


Our goal for this session was a more urban feel....they coordinated their clothes so well and pulled together a great look for everyone. I loved it! It was fun to use so many different backdrops and textures.


Nobody complained about snuggling in tight....

Some Personal News

I shared in a earlier post that I had some exciting personal news to share......and I think I have kept you in suspense long enough....though I'm sure you haven't been holding your breath. *smile*

Our big news is that we are..........

That's right....we are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia!!! We spent a lot of time praying and talking about the direction we wanted our family to take. After much prayerful discernment we agreed this is the direction we feel called. So far we have been in the paper chasing phase and soon we will be in the waiting phase. We hope that we will be able to travel to Ethiopia by the end of 2010 to meet our baby. We are keeping a blog and would be honored to have all of our fabulous clients along for the ride. You can find it here.

We are excited for this new chapter of our story and want to share it with all of our friends! We covet your thoughts and prayers as we raise the necessary funds for an international adoption.

2009 Year in Review

2009 has been an INCREDIBLE year for Darling by Design. I feel so blessed to have met so many new friends along the way. I leave every session hoping I've gained a new friend and been able to capture some priceless memories. Thanks for allowing us the privilege to share these experiences with each of you. I don't take one moment for granted.

I look forward to lots of new and exciting things in 2010. I have some big news from a personal vantage point and have lots of exciting things in store for my business. Be on the lookout for a new pricing structure and lots of exciting new products!

In the meantime, I took a few minutes this afternoon to grab some favorite images from 2009 sessions. I hope I got one from each session but if I didn't let me know and I will fix it! :)

Lifetime of Love

This sweet couple attends our church but before our session I can't say I knew them very well. When Mrs. S contacted me she told me that she tries to have a portrait done every 5 years and they were a bit overdue. I was so honored and excited to spend part of our afternoon photographing them but to also hear how they have made their love for one another a priority. They found each other later in life and have been married more than 25 years. They both look so delighted to be together and it was obvious throughout their session. They watched a previous session we had done with small children and requested the monkey impression from Mike. Mike indulged them and we had a good laugh.

Thank you for the privilege of spending time with you. I dream of having the marriage and relationship you do when we have been married as long as you have.


I just love hands...



At the end we did a few of each of them seperately...Mr. S. even got in on acting like a monkey to help us get smiles. I WISH I would have gotten pictures of that! :)

Two in One Day - {Paducah Photographer}

I don't normally post more than one sneak peak a day but I needed to get this one on the blog because I have several more from this weekend that will need to be blogged soon. I also know that this guy is probably anxious to see a few of his images. We took off on one of those cloudy days this past week before it started raining and got a quick session in....We hit lots of places all in one day! It was so much fun! I knew that he liked the stuff he had seen from the more urban sessions so I felt creative to just have some fun!

Remember that Storm Tuesday?

Remember that storm on Tuesday? I had just gotten started with this gorgeous senior and within 15 minutes that crazy storm blew in. I'm excited to finish up tonight but wanted to show them that we got a great start!

Humidity and Curls

This little guy is the big brother to one of the sweet newborns that was featured here just a few weeks ago. We love this family and were excited to photograph this precious boy for his two year portraits. We had a lot of fun but it was HUMID. His little curls were in full force but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. Aren't they precious? Just like most 2 year old boys he was on the GO constantly but patience and hanging out pays off!
