Sweet Friend

Kim has been a great friend of mine since I started graduate school in Abilene. We both remember the moment that we decided to be friends. We knew of each other before beginning our Master's programs but not well.  One night at the beginning of our program we both were feeling the need for a friend.  We hit it off immediately.  We did a lot together during those two years, including Kim living with Mike and I for a few weeks when things really weren't going well for her.

Kim and Jacob have dated for a LONG time.  Six years to be more precise. They have had their moments but I know they are ready to make this next step.  Kim and I have planned for a long time to take some photos when they came to visit and luckily it got to be their engagement session.  I am so excited to participate in their wedding in Virginia in just a few short months.

Kim kept telling me how they weren't photogenic but I never believed her.  I looked forward to this session for several weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the few hours we spent on their session.

We laughed ALOT and that always makes for good times.

There were several different settings for this session .... and I loved them all.  It was so hard to choose any favorites.

Jacob even admitted that he enjoyed himself.  I considered it successful when I hear those words!  Of course I had my best assistant on hand to keep the laughs coming.

This might be one of my favorites.

Or maybe this one....It really is to hard to choose just one!

Kim is already getting lots of use from her pictures.  We created a wedding invitation that she will use as well as finding several others ways to incorporate these images into the big day.

Kim and Jacob, Mike and I can't wait to celebrate with you both in just a few short weeks!  It's going to be a great weekend!

Mr. Personality

This little guy had a lot of personality as evidenced below.  I have said it before and will continue to say it, the time frame from 6-12 months is so fun!  Babies are starting to really get a personality and are so interested in EVERYTHING!!! Most of the little ones lately have been enthralled with grass.  None of them have seen or played in much of it before.  Paying attention to me is not as much fun so we work really hard to get their attention.  If anyone was to have a video camera we would be guaranteed to win America's Funniest Video with the way we usually jump around and sing songs.

These are a few days late but I hope they are loved by his momma while she waits patiently for the rest!

I told you he was a cutie!  I'm loving the later evenings and warm weather.  My camera loves it too!

6 Month Old Charmer

This is my third time to photograph this sweet little guy. It is soooo much fun to watch them grow up during this first year. However, this time he made us work for his attention. He's six months old, it's been a cold winter, and he hasn't been introduced to the wonders of grass and leaves until our session together. He was much more interested in figuring out all these new amazing things than smiling for us. I love the wonder of this age though. Everything they pick up goes straight to the mouth - they want to touch it AND eat it!

His mom told me that he was a happy baby and I believed her. After he had the opportunity to explore all these new things I got to see lots of the happy baby she told me about.

See I told you. As soon as his clothes came off he was talking and smiling like crazy!

Here is the perfect example of how to spice up a rather simple outfit. His little hat just tops things off to make something simple look so trendy and unique. He LOVES his hat and starts laughing when he sees it. Mom says that when he sees himself in a mirror he goes nuts. I can definitely believe it!

He has mastered sitting as long as he has his arms to balance. I think he was pretty proud of himself. He isn't crawling yet but that will come soon enough!

Thanks again for allowing me to have a part of this first year. I can't wait to see this little guy grow up!

Melt my Heart

This precious little man was visiting his "Janiebug" and grandparents this weekend.  He lives in Boston so they don't get to see him very often but they eat up the time they do get.   He will be two in May but I was so impressed with his verbal skills.  He told me all about baseball, trains, trees, and all kinds of other things.  We had a ball singing songs and playing chase.  I think I could have photographed him all day long!  It was a little chilly but nothing compared to what they are used to up north!

I love that it is starting to turn green again.  It contrasted so well with is blond hair and orange sweatshirt!

I love this next black and white one...

Okay, I couldn't help but post several extra pictures from this session.  His aunt had an AWESOME idea.  While we visited the trains she walked to the ice cream shop to get him a treat.  At the end of our session she brought it to him and we finished up by letting him go to town on it.

These first two seem like he is saying, "Are you serious?  This is for me?" and then "Can I eat it?"

We had told him he had to sit down a few minutes early so that he could get his treat.  As soon as he saw the treat he ran to the door and sat down!  It was precious!!!

It wasn't warm by any means but he didn't let that deter him.  In this one his little hand is gripped as he was shivering but he wouldn't let go of that cone!

I think this made his day!   We had a blast watching him and capturing it on film.

I love it when my clients are creative.  It always pays off with awesome pictures!  I don't think they will forget these anytime soon.

I can tell spring is approaching because the schedule is starting to book up!  If you are interested in a session this spring get in touch with me soon.

Love

This sweet couple braved the elements with me for an hour on Saturday before their wedding. They decided early in the week that they wanted to get married but they didn't have much time. Caleb is being stationed in Germany for the next three years. They don't want to be seperated by such distance for that long. They fast tracked their premarital counseling, planning, and wedding. They were happy to just go before the judge but their parents wanted them to have more memories than that. Sooooooo in less than a week they found themselves taking photos as the snow floated through the air. I am so glad that they did because they were so sweet and tender with one another. They did their thing and I just captured the images. The cold didn't seem to bother them one bit as they smiled and laughed together.

My prayers are with you as you commit to spending your lives together as well as endure the next few months until you can be united again. Thank you for allowing me to capture your love in photographs.

I love that you can see the snow/sleet in this first one. It just seems romantic.

Caleb, take care of yourself and thank you for serving our country.
