Celebrating Adoption

I have been looking forward to meeting this special little guy since January when I saw his picture for the first time when we had dinner with his family only a few days after they saw his sweet face for the first time. We prayed as they waited anxiously to hear about decisions in court and as they rose above lots of obstacles in order to get to their son to bring him home.

We had scheduled this session two other times....once we got rained out and then this precious little one got sick. We hoped that the third time was a charm and besides a little (okay, ALOT) of humidity things worked out perfectly! When we pulled in behind them at the location, I told Mike I might lose it when I met him the first time. He laughed and told me I should get it together so that he didn't think I was some crazy person! :) So as I fought back tears he comes bounding out of the car. I was afraid he might be a little hesitant with new people around but I couldn't have been more wrong. Let's just say he wasn't too shy and warmed up rather quickly! In fact, he rather loved the camera and I loved every minute of it. By the end of the night as I was photographing his mommy and daddy, I looked over my shoulder to see him crawling up my sweet husband.

We enjoyed capturing the essence of being family, loving each other, and having fun together all while having a stinkin good time!

Aren't they all just beautiful?

All the kiddos...love how the little ones have their hands on their cheek just alike. I couldn't have made that happen if I'd tried.

Can't resist another one of the newest family member...

We have loved getting to know this sweet couple and calling them friends! As most couples tell me when I want to get an image of the two of them, they haven't had a image done since their engagement photos.

The rest of the awesome fam....

One more of the kiddos...they really had so much fun playing together!

I love capturing families, but getting a glimpse into a family that has chosen to pursue adoption was extra special! Thank you so much for allowing us to capture your sweet family! We treasure the opportunity.

Quite an Entertainer

This little man met up with me as we tried to dodge the supposed rain on Saturday. While the sun came out as soon as we drove up at our meeting place we used the light to our advantage and were able to capture all the personality this little guy shared with us. He regaled us with smiles and laughs the whole time. He even humored us as he tried to mimick the sounds we were making towards him. He was quite adventurous and he's going to be quite the entertainer. Who could resist these smiles?

These little eyes just light up as he smiles and that little tongue always came out as he concentrated....melt my heart!

He loved to take a break and read a little bit...his momma is a teacher so I'm sure they read quite a bit.

Very few little ones make it as long as he did without getting grumpy. He hung in there and just kept motoring....we had to call it quits before he was even done. One of the last images we did was of his little family. Love it when mom and dad's get in on the action....you won't regret it when the little ones are grown up...I promise!

Enjoy these precious images! He's a keeper for sure!

The Princess

This precious little princess just entered a sweet family and is adored by her two older brothers. They were often checking on her to see what was happening and making sure that she was a happy little camper. I loved the combination of using some color as well as the classic black and white images.

I hope that her momma, daddy, brothers, and the rest of her family just adore the images we captured below!

Poppy Dip

Often people ask what they should wear for sessions and I am happy to give some suggestions depending on the kind of session that is scheduled. I want to try to pass along more suggestions along these lines. In our adoption process I have come across a family that is trying to raise money to bring their children home. In the process, the mom has started making dresses that are SUPER CUTE. I love supporting great causes that are helping to bring children to their forever families!

As an early birthday present (because I really wanted to buy a dress) I ordered one for this sweet girl. I thought it might be weird to order one for myself. :)

The cool thing is that she will also make a matching dress for your child's doll! Let me tell you...it was a hit! You pick the fabric and she sews it right up and ships it right to you!

You can find her website here... http://itspoppydip.blogspot.com/

If you want to order a dress and schedule a session, that's even better!

The cute little girl doesn't come with the dress though!

Almost a Family of Three!

This sweet couple is expecting their first bundle of joy in a few weeks! I loved getting the opportunity to spend a few hours with them this week and hear a little about the story of their relationship. I love to hear about how two people meet, fall in love, and decide to grow that love by adding children to their lives! Families grow, stories expand, and memories shared.

We ventured out to a field and they allowed me to have fun with a new setting! Thanks for trusting me to capture great images of the two of you.

This just feels so romantic and exciting.

I can't wait to meet your sweet little one and share new stories together!

The Full Post {Paducah Family Photography}

This great family invited me to photograph them at their home and we were blessed with a gorgeous night! They have a great big backyard and the light was awesome for their session! Everyone in the family cooperated and they will have some awesome images to choose from! I was flying solo on this evening (I didn't have my amazing husband) and I worried for no reason! The kids had great smiles and we got some great family images!

Four years old is a magical age! She loved laughing with me and we were able to really capture her personality.

He wasn't sure about the grass at first but as soon as we got a blanket, a toy, and a few songs life was great again!

Another image I couldn't resist throwing in. Isn't this childhood at it's essence?

One last family image.....gorgeous!

Thanks again for your great hospitality!
